Andrea Beth Damsky, L.Ac. was elected to the Board of Directors of Helix Water District in San Diego County, in 2022. She is a National Board-Certified Acupuncturist, herbalist, and nutritional consultant. Andrea Beth is also an environmental scientist who served on the Environmental Sustainability Commission of La Mesa CA from 2017 to 2022, and served as its Chair during her last 3 years. Climate change, environmental activism, drought, food insecurity, and equity are among the many issues Andrea Beth champions.  Access to clean air and reliable, affordable water resources, are among her top current issues of concern.

Originally from New York, Andrea Beth’s community service began at age 11, when she helped launch and staff Baldwin’s Efforts to Salvage Trash (BEST), one of our nation’s first recycling centers in Baldwin, NY. She has been a champion for environmental concerns for more than 50 years.

New York prides itself as being “the melting pot of America”, and the multitude of cultures there inspired in Andrea Beth a lifelong interest in cultural and ethnic diversity. She has been a member of many different cultural diversity community groups throughout her life. Her interest in protecting minority populations broadened into public service in 2022, when she was appointed as a Commissioner to the brand-new California Commission on the State of Hate. This Commission is tasked with making recommendations to the California State Legislature for reducing hate across our State. While this work is different from the work Andrea Beth does for Helix Water District, there are some commonalities: public safety and equity.

Andrea Beth is a lay faith leader in the San Diego County Jewish community, where she occasionally leads services and serves as a cantorial soloist. She and her wife live in La Mesa.

An active yet quiet leader in the San Diego community, Andrea Beth provides thoughtful insight and advice to local leaders and elected officials on regional concerns and a variety of current issues of importance, bringing respect and care to the communities we serve.
